Osimhen Header ends Galatasaray Misery, fuel Golden Boot Pursuit

Victor Osimhen delivered when it mattered most, scoring the decisive goal in Galatasaray’s 2-1 comeback victory over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The win ended a frustrating run of four consecutive draws across all competitions and extended Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the table to seven points, though second-placed Fenerbahce have a game in hand. Galatasaray found themselves behind in the 23rd minute when Tonny Vilhena fired Alanyaspor into the lead. The visitors responded in the second half, equalizing in the 51st minute through an own goal from Fidan Aliti. Just 11 minutes later, Osimhen made the difference, rising highest to meet Baris Alper Yilmaz’s cross and power home a header.

The Nigerian forward continued to be a threat, forcing a save in the 67th minute and narrowly missing the target in the 85th. He was substituted in the 90th minute after an impactful display.

GOLDEN BOOT CHASING OSIMHEN'S NIGHT IN NUMBERS

Osimhen ’s heroic outing was reflected in his numbers. The striker played 89 minutes, registered three shots (two on target), and completed 80% of his 20 passes. The former Wolfsburg youngster completed two successful dribbles and had a 100% aerial duel success rate, but he missed two big chances that could have increased his tally.

Osimhen’s goal brings his league tally to 17, placing him just one behind the league's leading scorer, Krzysztof Piatek, and one ahead of fellow Africans Simon Banza and Youssef En-Nesyri. His overall influence is undeniable; he now leads the league in goal contributions with 21, consisting of 17 goals and four assists. This performance shows his importance to Galatasaray's title charge and his relentless pursuit of the second league Golden Boot of his career.
